The Eco-friendly-Wood Cemetery announces its slide 2023 programming

We know—you would not count on so much liveliness from a graveyard. But the Green-Wood Cemetery is prepped to prove you incorrect with its seasonal slate of tumble 2023 programming of walking and trolly tours, musical performances, group gatherings and more. 

Jogging from September by December, the cemetery’s autumnal gatherings will kick off with “From Canvas to Stage: A Tribute to Basquiat” developed by WordSmith and Danny Simmons, a celebration of the iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat—who is laid to relaxation in the cemetery—via stay performances and artworks from musicians, poets and present-day artists on Thursday, September 7.

Other creative highlights contain the Live shows in the Catacombs sequence on Wednesday, October 4 and Thursday, Oct 5, with vocalist-composer Anaïs Maviel a massive-scale altar installation honoring Dia de los Muertos from Brooklyn-centered artist Cinthya Santos-Briones (on view from October 15 via November 5) and the return of Nightfall—”the crowning event of Eco-friendly-Wood’s tumble period”—a 21-and-above night of songs and shifting image on Oct 20 that will consider inspiration from the danse macabre, or the dance of demise.
